Rutherglen-born Dave Anderson is best known to many for his portrayal of bank manager Mr. McLelland in the 1980s TV sitcom City Lights, but he is also an accomplished playwright, theater producer and musician, and has been a prominent figure in Scottish cultural life since the 1960s.

In Dave Anderson - An Appreciation, Robert Harvey has written a very well-researched account of Dave's life in the world of Scottish entertainment, documenting his acting, musical, and writing careers and illustrating the piece with some excellent images from the archives.

A fine footballer for Clyde in the 1970s, Robert is today involved in the Football Memories Scotland project, a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden where he is a volunteer. He is also a member of Rutherglen Heritage Society. â€‹

We are very grateful to Robert for donating this article for our online library of biographies of famous Ruglonians.
