This book is a compilation by Robert Harvey of football match reports appearing in the Rutherglen Reformer & Cambuslang Journal between the years 1876 and 1886. These reports provide a fascinating insight into the early period of Scottish football in the years leading up to the formation of the Scottish Football League in 1890. The reports vary in length from a terse few lines to more in-depth accounts of the match action. The reporting covers matches contested by long forgotten local teams such as Stonelaw and Greenbank as well as games further afield in central Scotland.
A fine footballer for Clyde in the 1970s, Robert is perhaps best known these days for his involvement in the Football Memories Scotland project which is a partnership between Alzheimer Scotland and the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden where he is a volunteer. He is also a member of Rutherglen Heritage Society.
